Best Morning; 24 Years in America 🇺🇸

Writer: Abigail DominguezAbigail Dominguez

This morning, I woke up reflecting on what it means to have lived in America for the past twenty-four years. As gratitude filled my heart for everyone who has shaped me into the woman I am today, a photo memory popped up—the moment I became a U.S. citizen. I stretched the image for a closer look, lost in thought when the soft babbling of my twin babies pulled me back to the present.

Turning toward their crib, I saw something truly special—a baby brother lovingly comforting his twin sister in a way I couldn’t have staged, even if I tried. I grabbed my camera and captured the most beautiful images.

This moment was especially meaningful because my little girl had been sick for days with an ear infection and RSV, leaving her with little energy to play. But this morning, she was feeling better, so I placed her in the crib beside her brother while I pumped breast milk. They met in the middle, quietly expressing their love for each other.

After twenty-four years in America, I thank God for the greatest gift of all—a loving family and twins who share a pure bond, filling our home with joy and laughter.
